West End Coffee House is probably one of my favourite fail-safe cafes in Brisbane. The only problem is trying to get a seat on the weekends!
Location, ambiance & service
This small alternative cafe is nestled in between the busy-ness that is Boundary Street intersection in West End. Parking is impossible in this area on a weekend. However, it is definitely worth the wait for a table! I also love that all of our furry friends are welcome to dine at West End Coffee House (at least at the tables on the foot path). The staff are super friendly and accommodating, no matter how busy it may be. And the food always comes out very quickly.
West End Coffee House uses Campos beans. We have been to this cafe probably five times in total, and the coffee has been consistently good each time. I’d say it’s a bit on the bitter side, and very strong.
This isn’t your typical breakfast food. West End Coffee House’s menu is based on a small selection of delicious Thai-style street food.
I almost always order the Crispy Fried Eggs with avocado & housemade tomato chilli jam ($15.00). The eggs are super yummy, however, be warned that to achieve such a crisp there is a lot of oil used! And a massive generous serving of avocado – seriously, more than half an avocado! The chilli jam is spicy too (I can’t stand a sweet chilli jam, unless it specifies on the menu that it is meant to be sweet!).
The most recent occasion we dined here my partner ordered the special which came with laos sausages, crispy fried egg and rice. It was another super delicious, hearty and affordable meal.
I love visiting West End Coffee House, there is such a cool vibe and the food is always delicious. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for something a bit different than the usual breakfast scene! I like to think of it as quintessential West End.
